Entitled Gossipy Witch Ruins Romantic Relationship, Gets Her Own Miserable Life Ruined

For those out there that don’t have the time or energy to read through the whole saga, here’s how I’d break it down: OP falls in love with a French teacher in a small town out in the middle of nowhere. Apparently rumors begin circulating that they were dating while he was still in school, which wasn’t true. Thing is that he waited till after graduating. From there, they both get fired and start over in California where they raise a family. Years later OP hears about who started the rumors; his jealous druggie friend, Jerry.  OP goes ahead and sends old videos of Jerry doing drugs back in the day, along with his family who occasionally partook. They too …

‘Elisa & Marcela’ butchers a historic same-sex love story

looks like the kind of movie youre supposed to admire. The erotic dramabased on the true story of Spains first recorded same-sex weddingfeatures stunning black-and-white photography courtesy of director of photography Jennifer Cox. The camera lovingly lingers on a flower being doused with rain, holds carefully on church bells ringing, and bounces calmly on the ebb and flow of the ocean tide. Coxs framing is often wide, emphasizing the space between the films protagonists and reinforcing the challenges they face. Unfortunately, the film’s visual mastery can’t make up for its lazy storytelling and groan-inducing attempts at intimacy. Elisa & Marcela RELEASE DATE: 6/7/2019 DIRECTOR: Isabel Coixet STREAMING: Netflix This period drama about the Spains first recorded same-sex marriage is all …

Ali Stroker makes history as the first Tony award-winning actor in a wheelchair

(CNN)In her history-making acceptance speech at the Tony Awards Sunday night, Ali Stroker spoke directly to the millions of young people watching with dreams like hers. Stroker waited backstage to accept her award, though most nominees are expected to walk down the theater’s aisles and up the stage steps once they’ve won. She told reporters after her win she hopes theater owners work to make backstage areas more accessible to performers in wheelchairs. She made history in her first appearance on Broadway, too: with her role in 2015’s “Spring Awakening,” she became the first Broadway actor to use a wheelchair for mobility use in a production that also starred deaf actors who performed in sign language. She also appeared on …

The great green expansion: how ring-necked parakeets took over London

Was Jimi Hendrix responsible for the bright-green tropical birds presence in the capital? Or was it Katharine Hepburn? Electric Ladyland wasnt the only thing Jimi Hendrix released in 1968. One day in that tumultuous year he left his flat on Brook Street, Mayfair, and strolled down nearby Carnaby Street with a birdcage in his hands. I like to think that he was dressed in a tasselled jacket and flares, his favourite Fender Stratocaster slung across his back. Or perhaps he travelled incognito, in a trenchcoat and dark glasses. Either way, somewhere on that street, the heart of Swinging London at the height of peace and love, he opened the door of the cage and unleashed two bright green birds: Adam …

‘You don’t run for second place’: Stacey Abrams on a possible 2020 bid

Abrams could be a game-changer as a Democratic candidate for president, but she is carefully weighing her options You can tell a lot about a person by the way they dont run for president. With some two dozen Democrats officially in the race for 2020, Stacey Abrams is the only one by the starting line unsure if shell compete. Indecision is a label most politicians will go to great lengths to avoid. George W Bush declared himself the decider, while the former White House spokesman Sean Spicer memorably characterized his old boss as unbelievably decisive. But Abrams is leaning into her indecision, seeing it as an opportunity to more fully and intelligently explore her possible paths forward after her dramatic …

The 7 Commandments of Christian Marriage

ShareTweetPinterest I have an advanced degree in counseling and hundreds of hours of experience working with couples. I’ve taught marriage retreats for years. I wouldn’t say I’m an “expert” in marriage — because I’m married — and my wife reads my blog. That would be a stretch. Actually, I know more to do than I have the practice of doing. (Isn’t that true for most of us?) But I’ve learned a few things. I’ve observed things that work and things that don’t. I think there are some necessary ingredients for a healthy marriage. That’s the point of this post. Want a healthier marriage? Consider these 7 Commandments of Marriage: Become A Contributor 1. Thou shalt serve one another. A good …

‘The Bachelorette’: Hannah Brown’s Men Blow Up On ‘Psychopath’ Luke P. After Violent Group Date – Perez Hilton

It seems like the drama has kicked into full gear for Bachelorette Hannah Brown! On this week’s episode, the Alabama beauty took her remaining 15 suitors to the East Coast for a set of dates in Boston, Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island. Bachelor Nation knows that at nearly halfway through the season, this is when the competition truly gets real! After saying goodbye to problematic contestant Cam Ayala the week before, the remaining guys were more than happy when host Chris Harrison delivered the news they’d be traveling outside of the mansion. There’s nothing like a romantic getaway to bring you and a potential partner closer! So naturally, for this trip ABC chose… a historically rich city with no beaches? …

Kit Harington and Tabloids Toxic Obsession With Celebrity Mental Health

When it comes to reprehensible celebrity mental health coverage, the media has more than earned its reputation. From sensationalized write-ups of rehab trips and breakdowns to derisive headlines and invasive tactics, theres a long history of tabloid malfeasance. Worse, articles that poke fun at people who are seemingly in crisis, reinforcing pre-existing stigmas in the process, can have serious consequences. Britney Spears is an oft-referenced example of the horrors of a parasitic press. As a recent profile of Amanda Bynes referenced the countless headlines over the years that attempted to put a psychological label to [Bynes] behavior, with the The Guardians Britney Spears article went on to juxtapose those nightmarish scenes from the early aughts with responses to recent reports …

Stop Using Your Dating Life As A Measure Of Your Value

Holly Riordan Updated June 4, 2019 By Kevin Laminto You’re searching for person to spend the rest of your life alongside. Some of your friends might go on dates every weekend and won’t find their soulmate until later in life — but the next person to show interest in you might be the person you marry. You don’t need everyone to love you. You only need one person. Of course, even if you meet your soulmate, even if you spend the rest of your life single, that is not a measure of your worth. You don’t need a relationship in order to consider yourself a person of value. It doesn’t matter if it’s been ages since anyone has asked you …

Tired: Eating Bugs. Wired: Eating Bug Meat Grown in a Lab

Depending on whom you ask, the future of food is plant-based burgers that bleed. Or we should all be eating insects instead of cows. Or we need to grow hamburgers in the lab by culturing cells, thus avoiding having to feed and hydrate legions of cows burping up greenhouse gases. Or how about we mash these up a bit: What if, in the lab, we grew not beef but insect meat? According to a group of researchers at Tufts, culturing bugs could be easier and more efficient than culturing cow cells. To be clear, this is still theoretical work. But who knows—maybe one day you’ll be grilling up lab-grown cricket burger. Sans legs and wings, of course. On paper, cultivating …

That ‘Always Be My Maybe’ Sex Scene Is Based On Randall Park’s First Time

In an interview with The Vulture that it was, in fact, drawn from the day in 1993 that he lost his own virginity in his hometown of Los Angeles. Afterward, he revealed that he and his girlfriend went to McDonald’s.  As amusing as the tale is, the film’s fictional version of it is pretty revolutionary given the rarity of seeing Asian Americans in romantic roles and steamy sex scenes. As the Times astutely points out, “Asian-American men rarely get to be the hero in mainstream Hollywood movies, Asian-American women rarely pick the Asian guy at the end, and Asian couples rarely exist onscreen at all, let alone have sex, let alone funny sex.”  Of course, the erroneous stereotype sparked a …

A Love Letter To Dawsons Creek

Megan Minutillo Updated March 7, 2019 By Dawson's Creek I will love how you made me appreciate small towns. The closeness. The ridiculousness. The everyone knows everyone else business”-ness. The beauty of riding your bike to your friend’s house. You showed the world how the desire to leave and the desire to stay could co-exist. I love how you made me appreciate the beach where I live. I will always love how you made Gram such an important character. In doing so, you reminded us about the importance of grandparents. Gram taught us about love. About boundaries. About expectation. About the power of forgiveness and the existence of redemption. I will always love how you put Joey Potter front and …

Snooping Through Your Partners Phone Could Be An Indication Of The Relationship Ending

Nosing through your partner’s smartphone could reflect whether or not your relationship is headed downhill, according to new research presented earlier this year. To find out the motivation behind snooping, the researchers asked more than 100 people to share a time when they either snooped through a close contact’s phone or someone they knew had gone through theirs. Participants in Europe, Canada, and the US were asked in an online survey to describe events leading up to the snooping incident, how it was conducted, and what happened afterward. Of those who gave personal anecdotes, 45 percent said the relationship – friendship, romantic, or otherwise – eventually ended, while 55 percent said they made it through. “In cases where the relationship ended, it was either because the …
